Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Hardwood Timber Foreman / Picker to oversee timber handling operations within our warehouse environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing hardwood timber pickings and ensuring efficient logistics, and safe unloading and loading. This role requires strong organisational skills, mechanical knowledge, and experience in warehouse management systems. The ideal applicant will be proactive in process improvement and capable of handling heavy materials safely and efficiently.

Duties

• Supervise and coordinate timber picking activities, ensuring accurate and timely fulfilment of orders
• Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely for materials handling and transportation
• Oversee shipping and receiving processes, ensuring compliance with safety standards and company policies
• Lead and manage a team of warehouse operatives, providing guidance and training as needed
• Conduct regular process reviews to identify opportunities for process optimisation and efficiency improvements
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all operations, including heavy lifting procedures
• Assist with inventory control, stock organisation, and maintaining accurate records of timber movements
• Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate shipments and deliveries
• Maintain mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues promptly

Experience

• Proven experience working with hardwood timber
• Strong background in materials handling, logistics, shipping & receiving, and warehouse operations
• Experience operating forklifts and familiarity with warehouse work
• Demonstrable team management skills with the ability to lead a diverse workforce effectively
• Mechanical knowledge related to warehouse equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Experience working within 3PL environments is advantageous
• Physical capability for heavy lifting tasks as required by the role

Operational hours are:
Mon-Fri – 9am to 5pm
Saturday – 8am – 1pm (1 in four)

Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
