Our 200 x 100mm x 3m Grade 2 Oak Sleepers are strong, substantial and full of natural oak character, making them an excellent choice for landscaping, raised beds, retaining walls, garden edging, steps and a wide range of outdoor projects.

Compared with our Premium Grade 1 Oak Sleepers, Grade 2 sleepers can display more natural variation, including knots, checking, colour variation and less uniform edges or surfaces. This makes them particularly well suited to projects where strength, character and value are more important than a highly selected appearance.

At 3 metres long, they also provide an additional 600mm of length compared with our 2.4m Grade 1 sleepers, making them especially useful for larger landscaping projects and longer runs

Our 200 x 100mm x 3m Grade 2 Oak Sleepers are a substantial and versatile landscaping timber, combining the strength and distinctive character of oak with excellent value for a wide variety of garden and outdoor projects.

With a generous 3 metre length and a substantial 200 x 100mm section, these oak sleepers are ideal where a strong, solid timber is required. Typical applications include:

What is the difference between Grade 1 and Grade 2 Oak Sleepers?

The principal difference is the level of visual selection and uniformity, rather than Grade 2 sleepers being unsuitable or poor-quality timber.

Our Premium Grade 1 Oak Sleepers are selected to provide a cleaner and generally more consistent appearance. They are the better choice for projects where the finished look of the timber is particularly important.

Grade 2 Oak Sleepers retain more of the natural character of the tree. Individual sleepers may therefore contain more knots, surface checking, splits, colour variation, irregularities or less uniform edges and faces. These are characteristics many customers actively appreciate when creating traditional, rustic or natural-looking landscaping.

For retaining walls, raised beds, edging, garden structures and general landscaping, Grade 2 sleepers can therefore represent an excellent balance between appearance, performance and value.

Extra-long 3 metre oak sleepers

Another important difference is length. Our Premium Grade 1 sleepers are 2.4 metres long, whereas these Grade 2 sleepers are supplied at a full 3 metres.

That additional 600mm can be particularly useful when creating longer runs, reducing the number of joints required and giving greater flexibility when cutting sleepers to suit a project.

Natural oak character

Oak is a natural material and every sleeper will be different. Variations in grain, colour, knots, checking and surface appearance are part of the character of the timber and should be expected, particularly with Grade 2 material.

If your priority is a highly selected, more uniform appearance, we recommend our Premium Grade 1 Oak Sleepers. If you are looking for a strong, characterful and versatile 3m oak sleeper offering excellent value for landscaping, these Grade 2 sleepers are an excellent choice.

Delivery Policy

We will endeavour to deliver your items as soon as possible. Items on backorder are not held in stock and can sometimes mean a delay to your delivery.

Introduction

W Burton & Sons is pleased to offer a comprehensive delivery service from our two depots in Bramshall, Uttoxeter and Threapwood near Cheadle in Staffordshire. Small items can de delivered to most UK addresses with dispatch within 24 hours via courier. This is fixed at £15+VAT. With our fleet of HIABB equipped trucks and vans we can now delivery more of your bulky items such as gates, decking, fencing and sleepers and much more to more postcodes across the Midlands, and beyond. We have recently reviewed our shipping charges with many being reduced. Our shipping calculator uses your delivery postcode to work out the costs to ship to you. Please use this to work out the exact amount for your order. We can also use What 3 Words to determine your exact location for your delivery. Our drivers are able to use your What3Words address to deliver your order to you. Please enter this too on the Checkout page.

General Delivery

Delivery slots are available Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays). Saturday delivery can be arranged at extra cost, however please contact our team on 01538 753184 to discuss further. If you are unable to complete your order online and would like to place a sizeable order please call our sales office on 01538 753184 as alternative delivery options may be available. We will make every effort to deliver on the agreed date, but if for any reason we are unable to deliver then there will be no liability whether in damages or otherwise for delay of whole or any part of the goods ordered arising from any cause whatsoever. Delivery by the company shall be conditional upon access free from encumbrances and good roads being available to the delivery vehicles to the place of delivery. The company will not accept any liability for damages to property caused during delivery. If the company, or its agent cannot gain access to the delivery address then additional costs may be incurred. Deliveries are made using large vehicles and it is the customers responsibility to inform the company if there may be an access problem. This above action must be completed before 2.00 pm on the day prior to delivery. E-mail confirmation of orders also request the customer to contact the company if a delivery problem may occur. A list of likely problems are also enclosed on the e-mail confirmation. Some delivery vehicles use tail lift offloading, and others HIAB lifts and it must be emphasised that the delivery vehicle must be able to park in an area where the delivery is to be made. A pallet trolley may then used to manoeuvre the products off the tail lift to the kerbside delivery point, the trolley can only be manoeuvred on a smooth level surface such as concrete, tarmac or paving (not gravel). The customer, or somebody appointed by the customer, should be at the delivery point to accept the delivery. The company will confirm the outcome by e-mail. In such cases that delivery, in the opinion of the company is not possible, then the company reserves the right to cancel the order.

Small Item or Bulky/Large Item Delivery

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer a nationwide delivery service on our bulky items, however if you would like to place a sizeable order please call our sales office on 01538 753184 as alternative delivery options may be available. We endeavour to post out your small goods the next working day; however in busy periods this can take a little longer. UK Orders (other than local) Standard UK delivery for small items is £15+VAT. Smaller items are posted using a national courier service. Bulky or Large Item Delivery We offer Standard and Express Delivery to postcodes within 100 miles from our Bramshall depot. Bulky or multiple items delivery is FROM £11+VAT. Standard Delivery aims to deliver to you within 3-7 working days from the date of order being placed. Express Delivery aims to deliver within 1-2 clear working days from date of order being placed. These do not include Weekends and are subject to items being in stock.
